BECKY ANDERSON

Becky Anderson has over 10 years of coaching experience and specializes in pitching. She began her coaching career at George Mason softball camps and pitching clinics, and soon expanded to private lessons. She was an assistant coach for Westfield High School's Varsity softball team for five years until she opted to focus her time solely on pitching.

Anderson earned a full scholarship to play Division I softball at George Mason University, where she led the Patriots as a four-year starting pitcher. During her college career, she set various single-season school records including ERA (1.29), shutouts (7) and opposing batting average (.183) in addition to throwing the fourth perfect game in school history. She earned numerous conference weekly honors and four conference season honors, including All-CAA Rookie team, two All-CAA First Team selections and one All-CAA Second Team selection. She was nationally ranked in ERA (#13), Walks Allowed Per Seven Innings (#7), and Hits Allowed Per Seven Innings (#27), and was one of 30 candidates nominated for the Lowe’s senior CLASS award in 2010. When she wasn't in the circle for the Patriots, she stayed in the lineup and played third base, first base, and outfield.
Prior to college, Anderson was a four year starter on Oakton High School's Varsity softball team and played shortstop, third base, first base, and outfield when she wasn't pitching. Oakton advanced to the state tournament in three of her four seasons. She earned three First Team All-District selections and was named 2003 Concorde District Tournament MVP and 2006 All-North Regional tournament team. She also played travel softball for the New Jersey Breakers Gold and competed in ASA Gold Nationals at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.

Anderson truly believes that every pitcher is different and that there is no one right style to pitching - although there ARE proper mechanics! If you watch professional softball players or tune into the WCWS, you will see so many different wind-ups and techniques. Her goal is to work with each player to enhance her existing skill set with proper mechanics. She encourages her athletes to ask questions and to be leaders on and off the field.

She works full-time in Operational Risk and lives in Falls Church with her fiance Josh along with their two cats, Lucy and Hobbes, and black lab, Rylee.
