JAMIE PURTELLJamie Purtell, Centreville native, graduated from the University of Mary Washington in 2019 with a Summa Cum Laude degree in Marketing and Sport Management in 3 years. Purtell played three years of Division III softball at The University of Mary Washington. In the three years, the team went to the CAC Conference tournament each year and was a 2-time CAC Finalist. Purtell was the team captain her final year and was a three-year representative on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Purtell grew up with the game of softball, it ran in the family. Both sisters and Purtell played softball their entire life and all played softball at the collegiate level. Jamie played for the SYA Xplosion for 13+ years in Centreville VA. Prior to college, Purtell played on the varsity softball team at Centreville High School. In 2015, Purtell earned First Team All-Pitcher, and in 2016 earned Pitcher of the Year. In the last two years of her High School career, Purtell was named team captain. Purtell has prior experience giving pitching lessons and helped coach the 12U SYA Xplosion team for a few seasons. |
Jamie has a huge passion for the game and wants to help players become a better version of themselves whether it is on or off the field. She has been taught the tools to have success on and off the field and is looking forward to passing along all her tools and knowledge to the youth. One quote that stuck with Purtell throughout her college career is "Love the game and it will love you back."
Purtell currently lives in Arlington, VA. Jamie works Full-Time in the construction industry as a Project Engineer but also has an extreme passion for living a healthy and active lifestyle! Purtell has her CPT certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Jamie is currently a group fitness instructor at both Bash Boxing and Solidcore.
Biggest lesson learned Purtell had once she attended the University of Mary Washington was not starting strength + conditioning much younger to prepare prior to playing softball. With both softball and fitness being a huge part of Purtell's life, Purtell is now offering Strength + Conditioning for individuals, small groups and teams to encourage and challenge girls to be stronger and faster on the softball field.
